WILSON ISLAND: Grand Re-Opening Special

No phones or television…serious Digital Detox on the Reef!

We are absolutely thrilled to hear of the re-opening of Wilson Island on the Great Barrier Reef after the previous luxury tented resort was destroyed and abandoned after Cyclone Ita tore through the region in 2014.

But a $2.8 million investment has seen Wilson Island returned to its former glory as an exclusive, adults-only ‘castaway’ holiday getaway.

Covering just over five acres, Wilson Island boasts nine permanent ‘glamping’ tents accommodating a maximum of 18 guests.

Our Grand Re-Opening special offer includes

  • 2 nights accommodation for 2 adults on Wilson Island
  • All meals
  • Premium Australian Beverages
  • Snorkel hire
  • Return air transfer – Gladstone to Heron Island
  • Return boat transfer – Heron Island to Wilson Island

From just $1,095 per person, twin share!

Speaking to ABC News, project manager Kevin Nixon said being on the island is “like you’re living in the middle of a bird sanctuary. You wake up and there’s turtles outside your room nesting.”

Wilson Island closes every year from 28 January to 1 April to allow the resident bird population the peace and quiet they need to nest.

Located just north of the Tropic of Capricorn, around 80 km north east off the coast of Gladstone and 15 km from nearby Heron Island. Gladstone is 534 km north of Brisbane and 1,183 km south of Cairns.

Wilson Island is a 40-minute boat ride from Heron Island.
